Harsh Reality as Liberation

I have some other posts in draft, including one on the significance of USG backing down in the Nevada cattle “war.” But that can wait.

I’ve been triggered.

Outside in points to this in The Atlantic:

Does Traditional College Debate Reinforce White Privilege?

(…)

On March 24, 2014 at the Cross Examination Debate Association (CEDA) Championships at Indiana University, two Towson University students, Ameena Ruffin and Korey Johnson, became the first African-American women to win a national college debate tournament, for which the resolution asked whether the U.S. president’s war powers should be restricted. Rather than address the resolution straight on, Ruffin and Johnson, along with other teams of African-Americans, attacked its premise. The more pressing issue, they argued, is how the U.S. government is at war with poor black communities.

In the final round, Ruffin and Johnson squared off against Rashid Campbell and George Lee from the University of Oklahoma, two highly accomplished African-American debaters with distinctive dreadlocks and dashikis. Over four hours, the two teams engaged in a heated discussion of concepts like “nigga authenticity” and performed hip-hop and spoken-word poetry in the traditional timed format. At one point during Lee’s rebuttal, the clock ran out but he refused to yield the floor. “Fuck the time!” he yelled. His partner Campbell, who won the top speaker award at the National Debate Tournament two weeks later, had been unfairly targeted by the police at the debate venue just days before, and cited this personal trauma as evidence for his case against the government’s treatment of poor African-Americans.

As Land laconically and oh-so-accurately sums up:

We’re so screwed.

From my comments:

The value of this post and the link is to shatter the last, faint hope, to boot-stomp the face of us poor hopeful saps who may still have believed some alternative to Exit was possible.

“Screwed,” not in the sense of giving up, but of knowing one level deeper that the ship really is sinking, in fact the water is already over the gunwales. There is no hope, no fix.

Funny, I’ve read a hundred, two hundred, a thousand articles about Political Correctness on college campuses over the last 20+ years, Speech Codes and Ice People and Feminist Logic and Rape Culture and White Privilege and Oppression, Suppression and Depression, Microagression, Faked Klan Scrawlings and Faked Nooses and Faked Outrage, and none of it hit me like a punch in the gut, like this.

We’re beyond screwed now, we’re fucked when some 20-year-old asshole can yell “Fuck the time!” at a debate and not have his rage-monkey ass kicked out of the competition. Logic, reason and tradition, debate and time limits and all standards thrown away like last weeks garbage.

It was good to realize this; I mean, I knew it already but one level deeper, here we are. Reality is liberation.

Taste it, embrace it. And fire for effect.

  1. I could get behind a debate about nigga authenticity if there was some hiedegger level discourse and it was within the paramters of a debate. Now I understand the bias of setting ones own overton window but this is a debate format and it loses the benefits of a debate if you ignore the rules; It becomes something else entirely.

Exit is the only way I see as plausible. there are some southern old school reactionaries who mock it and that brings up an important requirement for exit. One needs a thede who can gather to fight, Army, community, fraternity, economic resources, political ties, and ideology.

Its not just reaction and white pride. Its positive value systems that set the tone, that take control of the overton window. That can inspire the elite to virtue and corral the below average into something beneficial rather than self destructive.

  2. “Logic, reason and tradition”. Logic and the overestimation of reason destroyed Tradition, which is worthy of preserving. The fallacy of reason as a lever over men is the core error of the Enlightenment gone insane. Reason is no lever it’s a tool. It should not be lumped in with sacred Tradition.

The levers over men are force and gain, all is some variation of force and gain.

Tradition like Religion keeps you in line when there are no naked consequences of harm or loss, and following traditions keep you from harm and bring gain instead of loss. Religion means God is watching, Tradition means your family and people will hear of it good or ill.

I’m not a big fan of HBD influencing policy. However I am quite willing to accept that the natural law we are born with, born knowing right and wrong are inherited survival codes we selected for over hundreds of millenniums.

Now of course there’s still force and gain, or the abjuration of hurt and take thereof.

Please accept that we are now barbarians and since we’re steeped in their vices we should also embrace their virtues.

If you want a future you’ll have to fight for it, so by all means “Exit.” They won’t leave you and your cattle ranch alone, but fear not…as it turns out Cowboys still exist. <<==Nevada is a hopeful sign from Providence Dear Friends.

    Blessed Holy Thursday
